Brief Profile of Smt. Sarika Pradhan

Sarika Pradhan is a member of the Sikkim State Civil Service since 2002. She has been instrumental in the successful implementation of several national and state government programmes like the inauguration of Inda-China Border trade through Nathula pass in 2006, Management of the Border Area Development programme, Management of North­east Council Schemes and the preparation of the 2nd Human Development Report of Sikkim. She has excelled in management of complex programs with an ability to lead multi-stakeholder teams in changing environment. She is especially interested in upliftment of rural poor in general and women in particular with expertise in planning at the grassroots level, with special focus on climate change adaptations, gender budgeting, good governance and public administration. She has been instrumental in effective implementation of MGNREGS and revival of springs and streams using scientific and people centric approaches. During her tenure in Rural Development Department Government of Sikkim she headed National Flagship Programs as Project Director MGNREGS, Mission Director of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), State Project Officer for National Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission and Climate Change Adaptation Project on Water Sector funded under the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change.

She has been a member of the Project Review and Steering Committee for the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India and a member of the Working Group on Himalayan Springs constituted by the Niti Ayog, Government of India. She has contributed towards policy formulation for revival of springs, pro-poor targeting, effective social audits, convergence partnerships and post-earthquake reconstruction. She has also been invited by UNDP as panellist in the COP 24 program held in Poland in 2018.

She is presently posted as Secretary, Sikkim Housing and Development Board, Government of Sikkim

She graduated from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Anantapur Campus with Honours in Zoology and holds a post graduate degree in Zoology from Chennai University and has worked as a lecturer in Sikkim Government College.
